Hi InterWebs! How the hell are you?
Things over here in the Casa De Sin are going quite well. This weekend I spent a lot of time packing and moving more stuff from my old apartment to JS’s place (it will become “my place” as of the 15th, other wise it gets too confusing when I’m talking about it!). I am hiring movers to take some stuff into storage, but they charge by the hour, so I want to get a lot of the pre-work done ahead of time. Yay me!
I hate moving. I really do. It’s such a hassle. It amazed me how much crap I’d managed to fit into a 600SF apartment. I managed not to be a complete magpie and got rid of a lot of things I’ll no longer need (you know, like the manual to the laptop I had 8 years ago, or bank statements from 5 years ago from a bank I no longer use). So now all of my clothes, some books, my crafty stuff, and what not are all over here at JS’s. It’s very nice to feel more official. I also got to bring over an antique desk that’s been in the family for ages. It’s lovely. At my old place I had to keep it in my closet cause there was no room. Now it’s all polished and sitting in the study, waiting for brilliant words to flow from my hand….OK, fine, waiting for me to use it as a giant wine glass coaster. Whatever.
Now the movers are coming on Saturday, and anything left over is either last minute stuff I forgot to move to JS’s, or trash. I have decided to give my couch away, so I need to do a Craigslist posting for that. It’s a lovely couch, actually, but I got it used for a bargain and a half, and to store it would cost me an extra $60 a month, so it’s totally not worth it. I don’t care about making money off of it, so I’m just going to give it away.
Then I’ll officially be living full time with JS. I mean, I pretty much have been for a few months. We had talked about moving in for a while, then one day I just never went “home” again. Ha ha.
So other than packing I’ve been taking care of a sick puppy. She’s had some, erm, distress of the lower track. Rather nasty. Friday I called the vet and they suggested a boiled chicken/white rice diet for a few days. That didn’t do much, so we went in to the doctor this morning, and now I have drugs and special doggie food. They’ll call me with lab results tomorrow. They’re thinking giardia, but it could be that she swallowed a toy or something (damn dog), so if she doesn’t get better I’ll have to do X-rays and/or a sonogram. Let’s hope not. It’s freaking expensive! And yes, I bought pet insurance, but I have NO idea where her policy number is. Very useful.
Last night was a friend’s birthday, so JS and I went out with him and his girlfriend to see Jon Anderson (of Yes fame) play with, I kid you not, a SCHOOL OF ROCK. It was so cool. The venue was great, some swank little down town club. And the kids were amazing. The sound equipment was crap, and it was hard to hear, but still, super fun. AND it counts as one of my 101 things!!! I went on a double date AND saw a live concert!!!
And that’s the weekend! I didn’t go into work today, because of the doggie and also because my boss RAWKS and understands that I had a lot of cleaning and sorting of stuff to do over at JS’s.
Tomorrow I am going to do my Rockabye give away post. Wednesday night is the San Diego book signing, so JS and I will go to that (FUN!!!).
Stay tuned to see how you can win a signed copy of Rockabye from the lovely Rebecca Woolf!
